Sizzix + Eillen Hull= Fabulous Products!

I have to say that Sizzix is one of my all time favorite company.So, it was very exciting for me when my long time designer friend, Eileen Hull, ww.eileenhull.blogspot.com became one of Sizzix’s licensed designer a few yearsago.

As Eileen was getting readyto debut her newest collection of Scoreboard die cuts, she called and ask meand our other designer friend, AnnButler, if we would make some samples for Sizzix to give out at the show. One of her new dies was a supercute cake box. Let me just say for the record, that after using spray adhesiveto attach papers to 93 of these boxes, plus using my Big Shot machine to cut out the boxes and 279 paper elements to addto this boxes, they were not looking oh so cute to me through eyelashes thatwere sticking together (just kiddingEileen!).

Sticky eyelashes aside,Eileen’s new collections and the other new items by Sizzix were totally awesome! These pictures are just a few of themany new things that the Sizzix boothhad to offer. Eileen’s newest collection will be available in stores by June.Be sure you go to your local rubber stamp and scrapbooks stores to pick up afew and maybe some of the other Sizzixproducts, check out the Sizzix website at www.sizzix.com. You’ll fall in love with them. Just make sure if you’re making 93 of thosesuper cute cake boxes, that you wear a pair of goggles. It will save youreyelashes!

Let's Talk Clearsnap Inks!

Sincewe’ve been talking about the CHA winter show that just finished, I have to talkabout my favorite inkpads and inks by Clearsnap!While I was at the show, I had the pleasure to demo some new & fairly newproducts from Clearsnap.

Thesetags were created using Donna Salazar’snew inkpads, “Mix’d Media Inkx”inkpads and some new ink accents called “SmoochGlitz”.Donna’s new inkpads are a pigment ink but because they were designed to usewith mixed media projects, they are very wet and will not dry quickly. Thisgives you the time you need to work on your mixed media projects without thefear of your ink drying too fast.

Theother product I used in these tags was the new “SmoochGlitz”. These inks are just like the regular Smooch inkaccents but these have a special surprise of glitter! And depending on how muchyou apply, you can use just a little to add some bling to your projects like Idid on the butterflies. Or, you can add several coats of the SmoochGlitz to give you full coverageon your stamped images. Either way you use them, you will love them!

Craft and Hobby Winter Show!

Well, it’s the firstMonday of the month and you know what that means! The DesignerCraft ConnectionBlog Hop!!! Boy, you are in for a big surprise! The topic for this blog hop isthe newly finished Craft and Hobby Winter Show. Since most of the designers onthe Designer CraftConnection went to the CHA show, we thoughtwe would share with everyone all of the cool things we saw at the CHA show. There was so much to seeat this show that I wasn’t even sure where to start. I decided to start withthe new products that were awarded the InnovationsAward for the “Hot New Products” atthe show. I’m sorry I don’t have pictures, but I’ve listed a brief descriptionof each product. I’ll have lots of pictures in my other posts.

Approximately 100 newproducts were entered for the InnovationsAward at the show. The panel of judges picked 20 of these products to benamed “Hot New Products”. Themanufacturers set up their displays and demos for the judges. Each manufacturerhad 60 seconds to promote their new product and judges and attendees had theopportunity to see the new products and watch demos. Here are the products and theirmanufacturers in alphabetical order-

Beautiful Bird Journal

It’stime once again for another round of blog hopping with the fabulous designersof Designer CraftConnection. The first Monday of every monthwe pick a theme and then create a project around that theme. Since the firstMonday of this month fell a day after New Year’s we decided to postpone ourblog hop until today.

Thismonth’s theme is journaling. I was very excited about our journaling themebecause I love to design and create journals! You can do so many things increating a journal. They can be fun & simple or you can go all out andcreate something elaborate. Whichever way you choose to go, your journals shouldsay something about yourself or the person you are creating it for.

The journal that I am sharing with you today, I designed for a friend ofmine, Brenda Pinnick, anotheroutstanding designer. Perfect Words

As a rubber stamper and scrapbooker, I amalways looking for the perfect words to add to my cards and pages. For me,there is nothing worse than getting my card or scrapbook page finished and thensitting at my desk staring at my design because I have no idea what words Iwant to use to convey just the right feelings.

I know that it seems kind of silly that aperson like me has trouble sometimes finding just the right words; I do write atwice weekly blog after all. But wording can be just like inspiration, and evencreative people need a little help once in awhile. So where do you go for helpwith the perfect words? Well, for me, I look to a few different places.

Rubber Stamps- Once rubberstamping became a huge hit in the creative industry about 15 to 20 years ago,you could find a stamp for just about everything, except words or phrases. I amso happy to say that has changed. Now, you can find a word or phrase stamp onall different topics. Check them out the next time you're at your local rubberstamp or scrapbook store.

The Internet- The Internet isa great resource for finding words, phrases, and quotes to use on your cardsand scrapbook pages. All you need to do is type “Perfect words for cards andscrapbook pages” into your search engine and in seconds you will have access tothousands of websites on this topic.

Books- Books areanother great way to gather this information. Check out your local Barnes &Noble, your local library, or Amazon.com. You'll be amazed at what you canfind.

Snowman Paint Can & Wearable Pin

I really hope that you enjoyed my lastpost on Monday, because I decided to carry on the snowman theme by creating asnowman paint can gift container with a detachable, wearable pin.

This project is fabulous for a few reasons.The first one being that I saved money by using the same rubber stamp on allthe projects. Who doesn’t want to save money around the holidays? The secondreason is the paint can is the perfect gift container to put your card andornament in to give to your loved ones. And the last reason is by creating thesnowman pin as part of the decoration on the paint can, you can give your lovedones an additional gift with the wearable snowman pin! On top of all of that,it is so darn cute, it’s bound to make your loved ones really happy. What couldbe better than that?!

If those aren’t reasons enough for you tocreate this project for your loved ones, let me give you one more. It’s fastand easy to make, and I don’t know about you, but those are two words that Ilove to hear during the holiday season.

I hope that I have inspired you to try tostop the madness of the holiday season by sitting down, picking up your rubberstamps and scrapbook supplies, and create something fun for your loved ones.You are sure to put a smile on your family’s faces and I guarantee that it willput a smile on yours.

Materials

Paint can- gallon size
Pattern paper- two different types
Ribbon- 2” wide
Basswood- 3/32” wide
White card stock
Vivid! dye based inkpad-Black by Clearsnap
Watercolor pencils
Wire- 24 gauge Silver & White
Shake-On Beads
Paper, Rock, Scissors glitter paint
Aleene’s Paper Glaze
Aleene’s Memory Glue
Aleene’s Platinum Bond Glass and Bead Slick Surfaces Adhesive
White acrylic paint
Wire cutters
Scissors
Exacto knife
Paintbrush
Pin back
Hole punch
Rubber Stamps:
Snowman with Heart
Hanging Ornament

Instructions

Cover entire paint can with two different pattern papers. Stampsnowman once and ornament six times on white card stock with black inkpad. Colorimages with watercolor pencils. Cut out images.

With silver wire, make six small loops. Adhere to the back ofornaments. Cut white wire and shape into six ornament hangers. Attach toornament loops.

For the pin, stamp snowman on white card stock with black inkpad.Color with watercolor

pencils. Cut out. Lay image on wood. Trace with a pencil. Cut woodwith Exacto knife. Paint

wood with white paint. Let dry. Adhere stamped image to wood.

Apply a thin layer of Paper Glaze over stamped image. Let dry for 24hours. When dry,

adhere green glitter paint to holly leaves. Add red and white beadswith Glass & Bead

adhesive. See picture for placement if needed. Adhere pin to back ofwood image.

Tie ribbon around paint can. Adhere ornaments to paint can. Attachsnowman pin to

center of the bow.

I have been busy working on some projectsto share with all of you. The first project being a card and ornament set thatI made a few years ago for my family that I updated a little bit for thecurrent holidays.

I absolutely love making cards for theholiday season for my family and friends, and if times allows I also love tocreate ornaments that match my cards. Your cards and ornaments don’t need to beelaborate unless you have the time and if that’s the case, I say go for it!Since my time is usually limited around the holidays, I like to keep myprojects fairly simple, but always something fun! Snowmen are my favoriteholiday characters and I wanted to create something with these cute snowmanrubber stamps that I have. They were just perfect for the projects I wanted tocreate.

I hope that you’ll consider creating anornament that matches your cards, because your card may get pitched out withthe Christmas tree, but the ornament will be saved forever!

Materials

Cardboard
Card stock- White, Blue and Purple
Pattern paper
Wire 24 gauge- Blue
Eyelets- Blue
Snowflake brad
Various fibers
Ribbon- Blue
Watercolor pencils
Trim- Silver
Slot punch
Hole punch
Aleene’sMemoryGlue
Paper, Rock, Scissors white glitter paint
Vivid! Dye Based inkpad- Black
Rubber Stamps:
Snowman with Heart
Snowman Banner

Instructions

For the card, fold blue cardstock to 4 ¼” x 5 ½”. Cut papers as follows: White card stock 4” x 5 ¼”, Purple card stock 3” x 4 ¼”, and Snowflake pattern paper 3 ¼”x 4 ½”. Use slot punch on all four corners of white card stock. Attach pattern paper towhite card stock. Adhere papers to blue card.

Cut white card stock 2 ½” x 4”.Cut white and purple card stock in tag shapes. Stamp

snowman on white tag withblack inkpad. Color image with watercolor pencils. Adhere white tag to purple tag. Punch hole in top.Add various fibers. Adhere to card front.

For the ornament, cut cardboardand blue card stock 3 ¼” x 4 ½”. Cut pattern paper

3” x 4 ¼”. Cut white card stock 2 ½” x4”. Stamp snowman on white card stockwith black inkpad. Color with watercolor pencils. Layer papers and adhere together.Adhere silver trim around the edges.

Punch two holes at the top andone hole at the bottom. Attach eyelets. Tie fibers through

the bottom eyelet. Attach snowflake brad.

For the top portion of theornament, stamp snowman banner on a scrap piece of white

card stock with black inkpad. Color image with watercolor pencils. Cutout image. Lay
image on cardboard. Trace image with a pencil. Cut out.

Adherestamped image to cardboard. Punch two holes in the bottom of the image. Attach

eyelets. Cut two pieces of wire 6” long. Wrap around a small paintbrush.Attach wire to
both stamped images.

Make a small loop with ribbon. Adhere to theback of snowman banner to form a hanger.

Thanksgivingis almost here and I would like to ask, “What are you thankful for?” I would love tohear from you, so please leave me a comment on my blog and share your thoughtsand feelings.

Forme, that question has a few answers to it. Being a person who has lived all ofher adult life with a chronic illness, Crohn’s Disease, I am thankful to bealive each year. After 51 hospitalizations and 21 surgeries, I always wonder ifI’ll see the next year, but blessings and thanks to God, I am still here.

Iam also thankful for my family, my husband Rich, my two children, Richelle& Michael and my mom, because without them I would not be here. They bringme so much joy and happiness. I’m thankful for my extended family and all of myfriends. I am blessed to be surrounded by so many wonderful people. I amthankful for my fur kids, Ruby Renee and Coca Cola. They fill my life withlaughter with al of the goofy things they do, like wet-nosed doggy kisses. I amso thankful for a lot of other things too, but it would take me days to listthem all.

Onemore thing that I’m thankful for is spending time eating, drinking and laughingwith my family at Thanksgiving dinner. Since most people spend the Thanksgivingholiday with their families, what would be a better way of showing them howmuch you love them by creating a beautiful table setting for your Thanksgiving dinner! Instructions

1. Stampcornucopia one time and acorn swag four times on white printer paper with blackinkpad. Stamp turkey and turkey banner once, and Indian corn two times on whitecard stock with black inkpad. Color all stamped images with chalk pencils andspray with sealer.

2. Cutout stamped images with Exacto knife. Wash and dry plate thoroughly. Turn plateover so the bottom is facing up. Using a foam brush, apply reverse collage glueto entire plate. Lay cornucopia and acorn swag images onto the plate. Coverimages with reverse collage glue. Tear tan tissue paper into pieces and adhereto the plate, using reverse collage glue. Cover the entire plate. Repeat theprocess three times. Let dry 24 hours before using. Hand wash plate with a dampcloth after use. Do not put plate in the dishwasher.

3. Fornapkin ring, make a circle out of a strip of pattern paper and glue to the backof turkey image with glue gun. Fold napkin and slip through the napkin ring.Next, glue gold elastic thread to the back of the Indian corn images and slideonto the taper candles. For a different twist on the “name card”, write name onthe turkey banner image and glue to the handle of a miniature basket. Fillbaskets with candy for a treat your guest can take home with them!

After I finished my project, Ithought, “Wow! This would make a great desk set”. With that thought I went onto design the note holder and journal. And as I said before, with the holidays coming up so fast,
it would make a great gift for someone you love! Each project takes about an hour to an hour and a half to complete.

Instructions

Paintframe with Lavender acrylic paint, let dry. Spray frame with sealer, let dry.Using Zip Dry Paper Glue, adhere floral pattern paper to front of frame. Adherefloral trim to frame, set aside.

Adhereleafy pattern paper to light green card stock. Run paper through the Big Shotmachine with the leaves die according to manufacturer’s instructions. Repeatthree times. Run the paper through four more times cutting out just the smallleaf. You should have four large and medium leaves and eight small leave. Trimleaves with decorative scissors.

Stampflowers with black inkpad, color with Copic markers and cut out. Use a pencilto “fluff” the four flowers in the vase. Stamp vase twice with black inkpad onlavender card stock, cut out. Apply foam squares to vases and adhere together.

Removeframe backing and cover with light green card stock. Replace backing. Punchholes in the center of each flower and add brads. Adhere four small leaves andwire to back of flowers. Adhere vase to frame center and add flowers. Adhereflowers and leaves to four corners of the frame.

Onwhite card stock, stamp dragonfly twice with black inkpad. Color with markers,cut out. Shape wire into antennas and adhere to back of front dragonfly. Wrapwire around pencil a few times, cut and adhere to dragonfly. Apply foam squaresand adhere dragonflies together.

Runpink and green card stock through Big Shot machine using the label dies. Stampsaying onto pink card stock. Add lines and dots with a marker. Adhere dragonflyto back of pink label, then adhere both labels together. Adhere labels to frame.Adhere bow to vase.

Instructions

Cover box with pink ducttape sheet. Cut out. Adhere dark blue card stock to inside of the box with ZipDry Paper Glue. Score along dotted lines, fold and adhere box edges withglue. Use paper clips to hold in placeuntil dry.

Cut Zebra print ducttape into strips and adhere to all sides of the box top. Cut a 10” strip of the Zebra print duct tape.Fold in half. Cut two slits in the box top and slide the duct tape into theslits creating a handle.

Layer the glitter paperto the box front. On white card stock, stamp large crown in black ink. Next,stamp small heart, small crown and squiggly line randomly around large crownwith Bubblegum, Sky and Grape inkpads.

Color images with colorpencils, using Gamsol Mineral Spirits to blend colors. Edge sides of paper withGuava inkpad. Adhere white card stock to glitter papers on front of box. Gluepink fibers around the box front. Adhere gems.

Stamp heart wands onwhite card stock with black inkpad. Color with pencils and cut out. Apply 3-Dfoam tape to the backs and adhere to box front. Adhere gems to heart wands.

For the cards- Cut cardstock as follows- Blue 4 ¾””W x 7”H. Fold in half. Green 4 ½”W x 3 ¼”H andWhite 4”W x 2 ¾”H. Ink edges of blue card stock with Sky and green card stockwith Artichoke inkpads.

Stamp and color thewhite card stock as you did with the front of the box, alternating the colorson the small heart, crown & squiggly lines. Ink edges with Guava inkpad. Adhere layers toblue card and add gem to the crown center. NOTE-For the envelope, I made my own with an envelope template but you can buy smallenvelopes in any office supply store.

For the pen- Cover penwith Terrifically Tacky Tape, excluding the pen cover. Place blue micro beadson a paper plate and roll the pen in the beads until it is fully covered withbeads. Add another stripe of tape to the bottom of the pen and cover with pinkmicro beads. Wrap fibers around the top of the pen. Cut of strip of the VELCRO®Hook and Loop Fasteners 3 ½” long. Makea loop and staple to the side of the box. Slide pen into the VELCRO® loop.

Blog Country Fair!

My fellow designerfriends, Vicki O’Dell and Laura Bray got to talking and reminiscing one dayabout all the fun days they use to have at Country Fairs. So, they asked a fewof their designer friends (me included!) if we wanted to participate in a Blog Country Fair!

We are supposed tosubmit a project that we might find at a Country Fair. I decided I wanted tosubmit a design that I created around my mom in her wedding dress. She lookedso beautiful in her dress, and that’s why I titled it “Beautiful Bride”.

INSTRUCTIONS

1. Stamp all images twiceon white card stock using black inkpad. Use tweezers and pom poms to applychalks to stamped images. Seal images using Preserve It!Ô spray sealer.

2. Cut out stamped images.Apply PeelnStickÔ foam squares to one setof the stamped images and adhere them to the other set of images, giving them a3D effect.

3. Fold red card stock inhalf. Using Xyron machine adhere School themed (blackboard) paper to the top front of the card (¼” down from thefold), the striped pattern paper to inside of card (where you would write yourmessage) and the School themed (pencils) paper to the upper inside flap of thecard.

4. Fold the lower left andright corners of the card front up until they meet, forming a triangle shaped pocket. Crease the edges down. Punchone hole on the corner of each triangle flap. Add ribbon and miniature apple.

5. Apply glue to toothpicksand adhere to each of the stamped images. Add yellow raffia to inside ofpocket. Glue stamped images inside pocket. Create saying with computer.

6. Edge saying, red andyellow card stock with decorative scissors. Adhere the layers together with glue.Apply glue to red chenille stem. Adhere to sign and then to card front.

Pirate Princess Baby Outfit

It’s that time again! It’s time for another round of blog hopping withthe wonderful designers of Designer Craft Connection. For this month’s hop our theme was babies/showers and parties, where wecan share our design ideas about any of those topics. I chose to share aproject design that I created for a friend that had just had a baby girl. Ijust love this outfit! It’s so girlie, but with a modern day twist. If youdecide to create this project for yourself or a family or friend the best newsis it won’t take you long at all. I think the whole outfit took me about oneand a half hours! And if you’re a busy designer like me, or a very busy mom,that is great news for my ears and yours too!

Designer Note for allFabric Stamped Projects: Before stamping thisoutfit, be sure to wash the outfit first, without fabric softener. Afterstamping, heat set outfit with an iron or the dryer. Wash outfit by turning itinside-out on a gentle cycle.

Instructions

Step 1. Insertcardboard under dress. Stamp pirate princess, mini stars, and heart wandrandomly on dress front using Claret inkpad. Remove cardboard.

Step 2. Heat setstamped images with iron. Adhere lace and bows to dress with Fabri-Tacglue. Set aside to dry.

Step 3. Insertcardboard into pockets and another piece inside jacket. Stamp princess andheart wands to jacket front with Claret inkpad. Remove cardboard.

Step 4. Heat setimages with iron. Adhere trim around pockets and sleeves using Fabri-Tac glue.Let dry.

Step 5. Stamp ministar on front of baby shoes with Claret inkpad. Heat set images with heat tool.Adhere trim around shoes with Fabri-Tac glue. Add princess ribbon as shoelaces.

Well, I am pulling this project out of my craft archives to share with you. I figured that just because I designed this many years ago for a magazine that is long out of print, it is still a very cool project that you can recreate with new stamps and papers. Instructions for Serving Tray

Paint wood tray with acrylic paint and let dry. Stamp sunflower five times on tray with black pigment inkpad and emboss with clear embossing powder. Color sunflowers with watercolor crayons and a paintbrush. Dab a cotton ball on oak brown inkpad and spread ink on tray lightly. Spray tray with sealer.

Cut sunflower pattern paper into four squares 3 1/2” x 3 1/2”. Using Aleene’s decoupage, cover the paper and entire bottom of the tray. Next, with decorative scissors cut corrugated paper into two strips 1” x 26”. With glue gun, glue corrugated paper around the outside of the tray and add raffia.

Instructions for Coaster Set

Paint paper mache box and four paper mache ornaments with acrylic paint, set aside to dry. Next, cut all your papers and cork as follows: White card stock 4 - 3” circles, Bee & Beehive paper 4- 3 1/2” circles, Sunflower paper 1- 4” circle, Cork 4- 3 1/2” circles, Corrugated paper one strip 1” x 14”.

Stamp sunflower (with words) on all four white circles with black pigment inkpad and emboss with clear embossing powder. Color with Tombow markers. Glue stamped circles to Bee & Beehive paper circles with Xyron or a glue stick, and then glue completed circles to all four paper mache ornaments. Next, cut 4 - 4” circles from a sheet of self-adhesive laminate paper or clear contact paper. Lay laminate circles on top of the ornaments and smooth over the edges. Glue trim around the ornaments to cover the laminate edges. Turn ornaments over and adhere cork circles with Xyron or white glue.

Glue 4” Sunflower pattern paper circle to the lid of the paper mache box. Glue trim around the outside of the lid. Next, cut corrugated paper in a strip measuring 1” x 14” and glue around the outside of the box. Tie raffia around the box and make a bow.

Making Decisions

I have made a decision. When I started this blog I thought I would do a post maybe once a month, but since starting I have realized that if I want to have a successful blog I need to post more often. I’m told by my designer friends that I should be posting a few days a week. Wow! A few days a week? That sounds like a lot to me so I decided that I would do a post every Monday and see how it goes. What the heck do I have to talk about? Maybe after I try that for a while, I’ll be able to post more often. Baby steps, let’s just start with baby steps.

For this post, I’m sharing a card that I designed for Clearsnap. I have said it before and I’ll say it again, Clearsnap has the best inks on the planet! Love, Love, Love them!!! I hope you enjoy the card.

Butterfly Thank You Card

Materials

· Tan card stock- 6”H x 12”W folded in half to a 6”W x 6”H card

· Tan card stock- 1 ¾”W x 1 ½”H for Thank You sign

· Brown cad stock- 5 ¾”W x 5 ¾”H

· Tan card stock 2”W x 1 ¾”H for Thank you sign

· Pattern papers

· Sparkling Harvest Finishing Touches™ kit by Clearsnap®

· Clear embossing powder by Clearsnap®

· Fools Gold glitter by Clearsnap®

· Terrifically Tacky Tape™ by Provo Craft®

· Ruler

· Heat tool

Instructions

1. Fold 6”H x 12”W tan card stock in half to make a 6”W x 6”H card. Distress the sides of all papers. Using the watermark inkpad (in kit) stamp flourish randomly over brown card stock. Lay ruler on brown car stock diagonally. Lay tape onto card stock three times, 1/8” apart. Remove red liner of tape and sprinkle cinnamon spice (in kit) and fools gold glitter onto the tape. Shake off excess and return to container.

2. Stamp “thank you” on tan card stock. Repeat glitter lines as in step one. Adhere to brown card stock with Glue Gloss (in kit). Stamp butterflies and four corners on scrap piece of tan card stock, using chestnut pigment inkpad and coca bean embossing powder (both in kit). Use heat tool to set powder. Cut out.

3. Cut out pattern papers. Using Glue Gloss, adhere pattern papers, butterflies, “thank you” and four corners to brown card stock. Adhere brown card stock to tan card with Terrifically Tacky Tape™.

Designer tip- Use Glue Gloss to adhere all papers except when you layer the brown card stock to the tan card. The Glue Gloss dries very quickly and is much better to use on smaller pieces of paper.

How to Make Your Cards and Pages Pop!

Welcome back for another fun round of blog hopping with the Designer Connection group. For this month's challenge the designers were to create a project using their very favorite crafting technique. I am very excited to see what my other fellow designers are going to do and I'm sure you will be too. And don't forget about our PRIZE GIVE AWAY!!! One of my favorite rubber stamping techniques is three-dimensional stamping. 3-D stamping is created by rubber stamping an image on your project then stamping the image multiple times onto a piece of scrap paper. Color the images with your colors source, i.e. pencils, markers. Cut out portions of your scrap paper image. Adhere to your project image with some foam tape or 3-D dots. Now, your image just “pops” right off of your card and scrapbook pages. If you're using a floral image, as I have in this sunflower photo book, you can add an extra bit of shine and shimmer by adding the Sparkle Fibers from Clearsnap to the centers of your flowers. It just gives your stamped images a little extra bit of Wow!!

Instructions for Cover

1. Using Easy Cutter Ultimate™, cut two pieces of 3/8” wood strips, 3 ¼” long and two pieces 1 ¾” long. Cut one piece of ¼” wood strips 3” long. Sand all wood strips with Super Sander™.

2. Paint wood strips with Vivid! Tuscan Tan re-inker, using a paintbrush. (Note- use re-inker like a wood stain). Lay rubber stamp down on surface, face up. Ink with Taupe inkpad. Lay wood strips on top of stamp, pressing down for a clear impression. Set aside.

3. Cut white card stock 3 ½”w x 4 ½”H. Re-ink stamp with Taupe inkpad. Stamp once on white card stock and once on a scrap piece of white card stock. Color images with chalk pencils. Spray images with Preserve It!™ Paper Protectant. Cut out image on scrap card stock only.

4. Adhere wood strips to stamped card stock, using stamped image as a guide. Add the cut out stamped image to wood strips with foam tape to give a three dimensional look. Add Sparkle Fibers™ to flower centers with glue. Ink edges. Set aside.

5. Cut craft plywood 4”W x 12”H in half, 4”W x 6”H to create the front and back covers of book. Cover wood pieces with pattern paper. Ink edges with Butterscotch inkpad.

6. Using small hand drill with a 3/16” drill bit, drill holes in front and back covers. Adhere stamped image to front cover. Adhere hat, flowers and ladybug .

7. Once inside pages are completed, gather front, back covers and inside pages together. Add metal ring. Tie various ribbons to metal ring.

Instructions for Inside Pages

Cut six pieces of white card stock 3 ½”W x 51/2”H. Adhere various pattern papers to both side of white card stock.
Using Cricut Personal Cutting Machine™ with various cartridges to cut out various garden themed images. Use images, stickers, chipboard pieces, buttons, ribbons, brads, tags and frames, to decorate inside pages.

CHA Summer Show 2011 "Minute to Craft It!" Challenge

I just recently returned home from the Craft & Hobby Association’s Summer Show in Rosemont, IL. Although the show was small, everyone that I spoke with felt the show was great! I know for me, it was a blast! There were lots of new products with make-it, take-it’s being enjoyed by everyone that was taking them.

My favorite part of the entire show (aside from seeing all of my designer friends), was a new event that CHA introduced at the show called the “Minute to Craft It! Challenge, which was coordinated by CHA staff member, Keri Cunningham. The event ran for three days at 12:00pm, 2:00pm & 5:00pm. I was fortunate to be asked to be one of the hosts for this new event along with Theresa Cifali, Jen Cushman and Terri Ouellete. The idea behind the challenge was for me to pick three audience members to participate and one to be the time keeper. They had a table on the stage with them that was covered with products donated by our very generous manufacturers. The contestants could take any product from the table to their area and they were given 10 minutes to create their masterpiece.

While the contestants were in a frenzy creating, I had the pleasure of interacting with the audience members where I would ask them all kinds of craft questions and throw various products out to them. It was a very crazy, fun time! Once the contestants were finished with their project our three judges, Marisa Pawwelko, Ana Araujo and Joy McDonnell, picked the 1^st, 2^nd & 3^rd place winners. Each winner along with the timekeeper received fabulous prizes from our manufacturers.

All in all, the event was a huge success and I hope that CHA will consider doing it again at the CHA Winter Show in Anaheim, CA. Here are a few pictures of the event.
